Season One Playoff Recap
As the West Chester Shuffleboard League's final week of regular season play was shut down in what we'll only describe as a "strike shortened season", the playoffs got under way with Jason Votta (Division 1 winner and 1st overall seed) facing Dave Traverso (2nd Wildcard and 4th overall seed) and Todd Kehl (Division 2 winner and 2nd overall seed) against Tim Frasca (1st Wildcard and 3rd overall seed).
In the first semi-final matchup, Dave Traverso claimed game one in the best of three series with a 21-16 win over the top seed Jason Votta. Votta rebounded very nicely in game two with a 21-3 drubbing over Traverso. Coming down to the series clinching game three, it was all Traverso who walked away victorious with a lopsided 25-2 victory. Dave Traverso pulled the upset over Jason Votta with a narrow 2-1 series win.
In the other semi-final matchup, it was all Tim Frasca who claimed a 2-0 series win over the Division 2 champ Todd Kehl. In game one Frasca won in convincing style with a 21-7 score. Then in game two, he clinched the series over Kehl with a hard fought 21-11 victory. Tim Frasca's win secured a championship matchup between both of the league's wild card players.
In the best of three championship series, Dave Traverso came out swinging against the highly favored Tim Frasca by securing a 23-7 victory. However, the game one win wasn't enough for Traverso who ended up falling to Frasca in game two (23-9) and game three (21-11). Despite commanding leads for Traverso in both game two and game three, it was Tim Frasca who went home victorious as the West Chester Shuffleboard League's well deserved inaugural champion.
